Samsung is phasing out its in-house Tizen OS interface and will replace it with One UI starting with the 2025 models.

The move is part of Samsung’s effort to create a unified user interface across its TVs, tablets, and smartphones, implementing the One UI that users may already recognize from their phones. It remains unclear whether the underlying Tizen OS will also be discarded. However, a complete shift to Android with One UI doesn’t seem far-fetched.

A notable benefit for upcoming TV models: Samsung promises seven years of updates for part of the current generation of TVs and all 2025 releases. Inevitably, some earlier models will be left out of this update support. As always, if your TV no longer receives updates, it is essential to disconnect it from your (home) network and the internet permanently, for obvious privacy and security reasons.
