Philips is introducing three new Dolby Atmos soundbars, combining “minimalist and smart designs in various sizes.” In other words, there’s something for everyone.
Later this year, Philips will release three new soundbars, all designed to offer “premium performance” and easy operation. According to the manufacturer, these models cater to different needs while maintaining high-quality sound reproduction. Below is a breakdown of the new models, as described by Philips.
Philips B8500 Dolby Atmos Soundbar with Subwoofer
The Philips B8500 is a familiar type of soundbar from Philips, featuring a compact and refined design. Measuring 900x65x105 mm (WxHxD), it is specifically designed to fit under centrally positioned TV stands, including those on the Philips OLED810 and MLED950 series. The soundbar seamlessly aligns with the stand of these TVs and features the same Satin Chrome Sheen finish. Its oval-shaped design reduces the unit’s height without compromising performance, ensuring it won’t block the screen.
The B8500 delivers immersive, room-filling sound with a 5.1-channel configuration and a total output of 300W RMS. Each of the dedicated LCR channels is equipped with dual 2.25” drivers, while the side-firing channels feature 2” drivers. The system provides 300W RMS in total, with each of the five drivers in the soundbar receiving 30W. The subwoofer, which can be placed both vertically and horizontally, features an 8-inch driver and delivers 150W.
This model supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X + Virtual X, creating a 3D surround sound experience. It is equipped with HDMI 2.1 eARC connectivity with 4K 120Hz pass-through, allowing for superior audio transmission and an enhanced viewing and gaming experience. Additionally, Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity supports LE Audio.
A built-in LED display provides status information, and the B8500 can be controlled via the included remote or the Philips Entertainment app. Both the soundbar and the subwoofer feature a Satin Chrome Sheen finish. The B8500 will be available in the Netherlands and Belgium from September, with pricing details to be announced later this year.
Philips B8200 Dolby Atmos Soundbar
The Philips B8200 is a compact soundbar measuring just 811mm in width, 37mm in height, and 42mm in depth—about the height of a matchbox, making it one of the slimmest soundbars available. It is ideal for TVs with a central stand but can also be used with TVs that have low feet, thanks to its minimal height and compact width.
Designed by the Philips TV and soundbar design team in Amsterdam, the B8200 perfectly matches the new Philips OLED 8-series televisions. Small built-in magnets allow the soundbar to click into place on the elongated TV stand, creating a seamless visual integration. Both the B8200 soundbar and subwoofer come in an elegant Satin Chrome Sheen finish.
With separate tweeters and full-range racetrack drivers in each channel, the B8200 delivers high-quality sound in a 2.1-channel configuration. It offers a total power output of 160W RMS, with each driver in the soundbar receiving 15W (for a total of 60W). The compact subwoofer features dual drivers and delivers 120W of power, allowing for discreet horizontal or vertical placement.
The B8200 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: Virtual X for a 3D surround sound experience. It features HDMI 2.1 eARC connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio compatibility. The B8200 will be available from August, with pricing to be announced later this year.
Philips B6100 Soundbar
The Philips B6100 shares the same elegant design language with rounded details as the B8500 but in a more compact form. With a height of just 65mm and a depth of 105mm, its standout feature is its narrow width of only 600mm. This makes it an excellent choice for smaller TVs (32” to 43”) or mid-sized TVs up to 55”, as well as a great option for PC setups.
The B6100 is set to launch in May, with pricing details to follow. This 2.1-channel soundbar has a total power output of 200W RMS, featuring two 2.25-inch drivers delivering 40W each. The subwoofer provides 120W, ensuring powerful bass performance. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X + Virtual X for immersive sound.
The soundbar also includes HDMI 2.1 eARC connectivity and Bluetooth 5.4 with LE Audio compatibility, allowing users to stream music directly from a mobile device. Integrated LED indicators provide status updates, and the unit can be controlled via the included remote or the Philips Entertainment app. Both the soundbar and the subwoofer are finished in Gun Metal, matching the design of Philips’ mid-range TVs.
