On the last day of May, TRPTK released the album ‘Serendipity’ by oboist Serol Yapici; a ‘collection of musical stories’.
Accompanied by Héctor Sanz Castillo on piano, Serol presents his arrangements for oboe and piano on the new album Serendipity, released under the auspices of TRPTK. The album features works by Eric Coates, Ernest Bloch, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Heitor Villa-Lobos, César Franck, Cor de Groot, Gabriel Fauré, William Grant Still, Pablo Casals, Henriëtte Bosmans, and Utku Asuroğlu.
‘Collection of Unique Stories’
According to Serol, Serendipity is “a collection of musical stories that reflect my personal journey of discovery and expression. As an oboist, this debut album is the result of countless years spent exploring the depths of my instrument and the boundless possibilities of musical arrangements. When composing the arrangements for each piece on ‘Serendipity,’ I found inspiration in unexpected moments and serendipitous encounters with melodies that lingered in the back of my mind.
The oboe, with its piercingly beautiful sound, became my companion on this artistic journey, allowing me to breathe new life into familiar melodies and unearth hidden gems. In addition to my own arrangements, I am also proud to present an original oboe work that has never been heard before. These arrangements, along with the original composition, are making their world premiere on this album.” This is an excerpt from the program notes, as TRPTK reports.
