Shure presents in-ear and over-ear

Shure – best known for professional audio – has released the AONIC 215 in-ear and AONIC 50 over-ear with noise cancelling.

The tiny ‘ear hook’ on the Shure AONIC 215 True Wireless Sound Isolating Earphones (as it’s called in full) has been copied from the brand’s professional stage in-ears. They have to make sure that the plugs don’t fall out of the ear even with wild movements. Striking is the long playing time on a full battery charge: 8 hours. You can also use the plugs with a wire, if you like. You just disconnect the True Wireless Secure Fit module, plug in the cable and listen. According to Shure, this wireless module can be used with all Shure Sound Isolation in-ears and is therefore also available separately.

Scala of supported codecs

Although the Shure AONIC 215 has a tight fit for sound insulation, the in-ears do not have active noise cancelling. If you want them to, there’s the equally new AONIC 50, an over-ear traditional headphone. They play for 20 hours on a full battery charge and have touch-sensitive controls. With the free ShurePlus PLAY app, you can control the strength of the noise reduction. Another practical feature is the large number of codecs the AONIC 50 supports: aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, LDAC, AAC and SBC.

These headphones can also be used wired if desired, which is useful if you are unexpectedly confronted with a flat battery. The AONIC 215 costs €279 and the AONIC 50 has a price of €399.
