FiiO has released the EM5 in-ears, which is – for the manufacturer – the flagship of the IEM-range.
The FiiO EM5 in-ears are different from the other in-ears. The housing of the caps is made by a 3D printer. Where the appearance is inspired by that of dragons. The material used is a high quality resin and indeed we see – with a little imagination – a kind of dragon’s tail when you look at a cap. Inside you will find a 14.2mm beryllium coated driver. Of course there is one in each cap.
Silver braided cable
The connection between caps and source is provided by a 120-core pure silver and braided cable. FiiO also supplies a 3.5 mm unbalanced, a 2.5 mm balanced and a 4.4 mm balanced plug with the EM5. It makes the in-ears usable for just about every conceivable application (and source of course).
You also get a HB3 leather carrying case and no less than 18 pairs of spongy foam cushions. The price of the FiiO EM5 plus mentioned accessories is $299.99 American dollar. Something for anyone who wants to score just that little bit better without immediately wanting to pay an extreme amount of money.
By the way, at the time of writing nothing about the EM5 can be found on the website of the manufacturer himself, but we did find it in this webshop (see image on top of this article).
