Apple AirPods Max: pricey headphones with ANC

Apple has released the long-awaited over-ear headphones. It is called AirPods Max and is not cheap.

If you’re looking for headphones that match your iPhone or other piece of Apple electronics, there’s the AirPods Max. This is a wireless Bluetooth headphone with two H1 chips. The H1 is an Apple-designed ic that has all kinds of connectivity options and smart features on board and has 10 audio cores. Most characteristic is the low power consumption. This is also reflected in the AirPods Max. Although it contains two H1s, the headphones run for up to 20 hours on a single battery charge, with the ANC turned on.

It also features adaptive EQ and spatial sound technology.

Spatial audio with head tracking

Apple uses its self-designed 40mm dynamic drivers, promising rich and deep bass as well as accurate midrange and clear highs. Apple further promises total harmonic distortion over the entire frequency range is less than 1%, even at maximum volume. The crown on the headphones is the control, just like on the Watch.

It’s also nice to note the spatial audio with head-tracking that immerses you in sound recorded in 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos. When the battery runs out on the go, five minutes of charging gives you another 1.5 hours of playing time. The Apple AirPods Max is available in five colors and is available now. For the asking price of €629 you also get a smart case.
