Bowers & Wilkins introduces the all-new Px7 S2: what they call ‘the best active noise cancellation wireless headphone yet’.
The new Px7 S2 from Bowers & Wilkins replaces the award-winning PX7 and is – in the manufacturer’s words – ‘the latest addition to the successful range of high-performance headphones of recent decades. It has been developed with the same philosophy in mind’.
Unrivalled sound
Bowers & Wilkins said: ‘The Px7 S2 is based on an all-new acoustic platform that delivers unprecedented high-resolution sound quality. At its center are new, specially developed 40mm drivers, designed for the demands of headphones. The drivers are super responsive and therefore faithfully reproduce every nuance in a piece of music with extraordinarily low distortion. This ensures more accurate, high-resolution reproduction. The drivers are carefully placed in each ear cup so that the distance to the listener’s ear is the same from each driver. This also contributes to a more natural and immersive sound field’.
We read further in the announcement, ‘The Px7 S2 is equipped with this high-performance driver configuration. It also features Qualcomm’s aptXTM Adaptive wireless technology to automatically optimize wireless music transmission from compatible phones, tablets and computers. Add to that the powerful Bowers & Wilkins-developed DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and the result is 24-bit high-resolution sound quality when using appropriate streaming services. USB-C and 3.5mm cable connections are also supported. Both cable types can be found in the included carrying case’.
Excellent isolation
According to the manufacturer, Bowers & Wilkins engineers have put a lot of time and effort into fine-tuning the noise isolation on the Px7 S2: ‘The Px7 S2 is equipped with Bowers & Wilkins’ optimized noise isolation technology to keep out unwanted sounds without compromising musicality. Six enhanced, high-performance microphones work together for the best results: two microphones measure the output of each driver, two react to external ambient noise and two provide excellent intelligibility thanks to enhanced noise reduction. Thanks to the careful placement of these microphones, you benefit from the very best sound, even in noisy environments’.
User-friendly
The Px7 S2 is also easy to use: it’s the first headphone that can be controlled with the Bowers & Wilkins Music app. The app lets you pair the Px7 S2 with a mobile device or tune the sound using customizable EQ. It also allows you to turn the transparent noise reduction mode on or off. This lets in more or less external sounds. Finally, the app also allows you to monitor the battery level of the headphones. A future upgrade will add the ability for users to stream their favorite music directly from their mobile device to the Px7 S2.
Earcup Buttons
The earcups are equipped with buttons, allowing you to control the headphones even without the app. In addition, listeners can use the Px7 S2 to activate their phone’s voice assistant with just the touch of a button. With a battery life of 30 hours, the Px7 S2 will last all day or even longer with just one recharge session. A quick 15-minute recharge is enough for seven additional hours of listening pleasure.
Design and optimal comfort
The Px7 S2 is available in the colors gray, blue and black, all with detailed finishes. The all-new construction and profile is, according to Bowers & Wilkins, ‘carefully designed for comfortable, extended listening sessions. It is slimmer, lighter and equipped with more luxurious ear pads, featuring improved memory foam that fits perfectly over the ears. This ensures optimal comfort, no matter how long you listen’. Coming soon, the all-new Px8
The new Px7 S2 is Bowers & Wilkins’ first headphone model in 2022. Later this year, the company will launch a new flagship model: the Px8, for €599. ‘This wireless model takes Bowers & Wilkins’ headphones to a level of high-end design, luxurious materials and stunning sound,’ the manufacturer reports.
