Bose has announced the brand new QuetConfort Earbuds II in-ears, which allow the sound to be fully customized to one’s hearing.
The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II have Bose CustomTune sound calibration technology on board. This technology intelligently personalizes the QC Earbuds II by adapting audio performance and noise reduction to the unique shape of each ear. This results in an unprecedented listening experience and the world’s best noise reduction of any headphone – banded or in-ear, according to the manufacturer.
Fit Kit
The QuietComfort Earbuds II feature an entirely new design. Each earbud is about a third smaller than its predecessor, weighs only 6 grams and comes in a charging case that you can carry in your pocket. And to make them even more personal, a Fit Kit of earbuds is also included, including a new two-piece system with interchangeable stability straps and earbuds – for all-day comfort and wearability. Which makes the QuietComfort products live up to their name.
Tailored to the individual
“Since we introduced noise cancellation to the market, we’ve always been driven to push the boundaries of engineering, technology and design – the QuietComfort Earbuds II are the latest result of that dedication,” said Raza Haider, chief product officer at Bose. “We believe in the power of sound – it can take you to your favorite concert, evoke a meaningful memory, or simply lift your mood. That’s exactly what the QC Earbuds II do. They’re uniquely tailored to you and deliver immersive audio that brings you closer than ever to the content.”
CustomTune, Noise Reduction and Aware Mode with ActiveSense
CustomTune sound calibration technology makes its debut in the QuietComfort Earbuds II. This groundbreaking innovation is activated each time you remove the earbuds from the box and place them in your ears. A proprietary tone is played, then a microphone inside the earbuds measures the acoustic response of your ear canal. That information is then used to tailor both the sound and the noise reduction specifically to you – all within less than half a second.
More advanced noise reduction
For audio, CustomTune fully optimizes the sound frequency profile to the unique characteristics of each ear, so the sound that reaches the eardrum is exactly as the artist intended – lifelike, balanced audio with nuance, clarity and depth. For more powerful noise reduction, CustomTune also tunes the noise reduction signal to your ears, significantly improving performance. It targets sounds that were previously difficult to suppress – such as voices of colleagues nearby, screaming babies on the bus, or family distractions in your home office – with this new technology these types of sounds fade away so that you are no longer disturbed by them either. And CustomTune constantly adapts to the changing noise in your environment, so you can be sure of the best noise cancellation.
Transparency
The intelligent personalization offered by CustomTune also enhances Aware mode with ActiveSense. In Aware mode, it provides enhanced transparency, so you hear ambient sounds as naturally and lifelike as possible. And when loud interruptions are nearby, ActiveSense responds with just the right level of noise reduction – tailored specifically to your ear – to reduce noise as it occurs, and only as long as it lasts.
Four microphones per earbud
The QC Earbuds II use four microphones in each earbud – one on the inside and three on the outside – to detect, measure and transmit unwanted noise to a proprietary electronic chip loaded with an exclusive algorithm. Together with tiny transducers, the system responds with an accurate, equal and opposite signal in less than a fraction of a millisecond. The result, according to the manufacturer, is “dramatic” and exclusive to Bose.
New Fit Kit with earbuds for comfort and stability
The revolutionary advancement in noise-canceling technology offered by the QuietComfort Earbuds II begins with an optimal fit for your ears. The QC Earbuds II divide the traditional one-piece earbuds into a two-piece system: a stability strap that follows the contours of the ear, and an umbrella-shaped silicone earbud to create a firm seal at the opening of your ear.
Fit every ear
The Bose Fit Kit that comes with the QC Earbuds II includes three sizes of earbuds and three sizes of stability straps – giving each earbud nine customization options. And because no two ears are the same -even a set belonging to the same person – all components are designed to be interchangeable, so you can find a fit that feels comfortable and stays in place all day. Advanced materials and manufacturing techniques keep the stability straps and earbuds soft and accommodating, yet durable and easy to change. As a final step to ensure an ideal fit, a fit test in the Bose Music app checks for an accurate seal by using the same tone as the CustomTune sound calibration to check for leaks, so the QC Earbuds II can deliver the best personalized audio and noise cancellation performance.
Compatibility, connectivity, battery life and more
The new Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are compatible with both Apple and Android devices. They feature improved voice capture thanks to an updated noise reduction algorithm, incorporate Bluetooth 5.3, are IPX4-rated for sweat and water resistance, and work with a mobile device’s built-in voice assistant. The earbuds have a battery life of six hours and can be charged an additional three times with the charging pouch. The pouch can fully charge the earbuds in one hour, while a quick 20-minute charge provides up to two hours of playback time. The charging pouch itself is fully charged in three hours via USB-C.
Updateable
The earbuds feature intuitive, capacitive touch buttons on both the left and right earbuds that provide access to commonly used commands, such as play and pause content, volume control, skip tracks and answer and end calls. In addition, the Bose Music app offers more functionality, such as hotkey settings, noise reduction modes and adjustable EQ, and updates will be released over time to add new features and benefits.
The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II will be available from September 29 for €299.95 in Triple Black, and can be reserved from September 8 via Bose.co.uk. A Soapstone-colored variant will also be available later this year.
