Ruark R1S radio, for the nightstand

Ruark has released a new radio in the form of the R1S, perfectly suited for a bedside table, for example, and with extensive streaming capabilities.

The new Ruark R1S is the entry-level model from the manufacturer. Nevertheless, it has more than enough features. For example, you can stream Spotify via WiFi, with Ruark promising that – if it ever appears… – Spotify HiFi will not be a problem for the radio either. The classic form of radio in the form of a built-in FM tuner is supported too, in addition to DAB and DAB+. So you can really go either way with it, and the little radio will therefore feel equally at home in a place where no Internet is available. A USB-C connector allows you to charge smartphones and other portable devices, saving you an extra charger next to your bed.

Bluetooth enables sound playback directly from the same phone or tablet, for example, while an analog input is available too. An optional battery pack called BackPack 3 at £69 makes the device independent of a power outlet. The Ruark R1S itself costs £299.
