Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 Bluetoothspeaker

Bang & Olufsen has released a new Bluetooth speaker in the form of the A5, with a maximum output power of 280 watts.

The new Bang & Olufsen A5 Bluetooth speaker was designed in collaboration with Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi. As with everything from B&O, you have to love the design. Still, you can’t quite escape the conclusion that the thing looks a bit like a shopping basket. The speaker delivers a maximum output of 280 watts, in 360-degree radiance. This is achieved by a 13 cm bass driver, two 5 cm midrange drivers and a 2 cm tweeter. The internal technology is copied from the Beolab 90 and 50 speakers, which use beamforming.

Serviceable and updateable

The A5 features a built-in battery, good for 12+ hours of playing time when fully charged. a nice extra is the IP65 rating, aka watee and dust resistance. It means you can confidently use the speaker outdoors as well. Should you wish, two A5s can be combined, or you can pair it with the B&O smart home multiroom system. By the way, it is not just a Bluetooth speaker, but much more of a networked one. Indeed, AirPLay 2, Chromecast and Spotify Connect are also supported. Pleasant advantage of the A5 is that it uses the proprietary Mozart platform. This means the speaker can be kept up to date for a very long time through firmware updates. Bang & Olufsen also announces that the A5 is service-friendly too. The A5 costs €999 (the also available Dark Oak variant has a price tag of €1099). Available per direct.
