MoFi Electronics has released the MasterPhono preamplifier; as can be derived from the type name primarily aimed at vinyl.
MoFi Electronics’ MasterPhono falls in the somewhat higher price segment of phono preamplifiers. Built with a dual chassis that separates power and audio circuits, with an added separate ground connection. All these should ensure the lowest possible system noise. Furthermore, you choose from one of four available gain factors: 40 dB, 50 dB, 60 dB or 70 dB. The ten selectable impedances also undoubtedly come in handy. Especially when you consider that one of these ten is a “custom” version, using an RCA plug at the rear. The construction is completely discrete, DC-coupled and servo-controlled. The RIAA correction filter has a high accuracy of +/-0.05 dB, while the frequency range runs from 10 Hz to 50 kHz.
Price of the MoFi Electronics MasterPhono: $4995. There is nothing to see on the manufacturer ‘s website about the newcomer at the time of writing, though we did find a photo on their Facebook page (see screenshot at top).
