It looked like the days of the somewhat doltish-looking neckband for “wireless” in-ears were over, but the Beyerdynamic Blue BYRD ANC proves otherwise.
Truly wireless in-ears are the standard these days. Thanks to better batteries and less energy-consuming electronics, you can play many hours of music on them these days. Especially for athletes, the loose earbuds are ideal because no chafing neckband or cords that can get caught behind something. Yet Beyerdynamic has dared to release a new model of “wireless” in-ears, with neckband. Also equipped with ANC, so listening in silence is an option. The Beyerdynamic Blue BYRD ANC works with Bluetooth 5.2, supporting the aptX Adaptive and AAC codecs. Furthermore – for enthusiasts – integration with Amazon Alexa and Siri has been implemented.
8 to 14 hours of playing time
Should the name Beyerdynamic Blue BYRD not sound entirely unfamiliar to you, that’s right. The previous model was also called like that, but did not have ANC on board. All the electronics are built into the neckband, including the rechargeable battery. When fully charged, it provides 14 hours of playing time without ANC and 8 hours with. Ten minutes of refueling provides another 2 hours of playing time. The neckband construction may be of interest to people whose in-ears tend to fall out of their ears. Whereas with truly wireless ones you run the risk of losing them, when using a neckband the risk is significantly smaller. So there is still an advantage to this construction!
The Beyerdynamic Blue BYRD ANC costs €129.
