With the new Cayin E203 motherboard – featuring a complete audio circuit – you can give your N6iii a different sound signature.
What makes the Cayin N6iii special and highly attractive to many is its ability to work with interchangeable audio modules. Each of these “motherboard” modules contains the entire audio circuit, from DAC to headphone amplifier. Since different DAC chips and amplification designs produce varying sound characteristics, this offers an interesting way to tailor the player’s sonic performance. It also opens the door for future upgrades to even better components.
The new Cayin E203, built around the ESS Sabre ES9039SPRO DAC chip, is designed exclusively for headphone outputs. According to the manufacturer, features like a line-out or pre-out were deliberately omitted to minimize interference and crosstalk.
DAO Technology
One of the standout features of the Cayin E203 is Dual Amplifier Operation (DAO). This allows you to choose between three amplification modes: Class A, Class AB, and “Hyper Mode”, with the latter delivering maximum power for headphones that require extra driving force.
The N6iii is available immediately, either with the Cayin E203 module or the original C201 module, for a price of €1,698. The modules can also be purchased separately for €398 each, so if you opt for the missing board from the standard package, you’ll have the flexibility to switch between both.
