The Grado Signature S950 is a new open-back headphone that might be worth considering for enthusiasts of this design.
Grado Labs is well-known for producing open-back headphones across all price ranges, as well as for its signature editions—now joined by the newly introduced Grado Signature S950. A standout feature of this model is the use of Brazilian walnut wood, a first for Grado. According to the manufacturer, this material provides a unique sound signature, distinctly different from its aluminum counterpart, the HP100 SE. The S950 is built around a specially tuned 52mm driver, further developed from the mentioned aluminum model.
Detachable Cables & Comfort
A practical feature of the Grado Signature S950 is its detachable cable system. The standard option is the Grado Signature Gold cable, equipped with a 6.35mm plug. Additionally, balanced XLR and 4.4mm cables are in the pipeline.
For added comfort, Grado has incorporated 50% more padding in the ear cushions, ensuring a plush and comfortable fit—ideal for long listening sessions.
Price & Availability
The Signature S950 will be available starting in March 2024, with a price tag of $2,195.
