Cyrus CD-T
Contents
The British Cyrus we know by now. And actually, we unanimously like the sound. It’s danceable, funky … fun. And that’s the case again with this CD-T – 1500 Euro – from the Brits.
The cabinet is unmistakably Cyrus. Love it… or hate it. We think it’s pretty to be honest. Also, the operation is just nice with the buttons under the display. At the rear we find optical and coaxial. AES or BNC would have been nice. But anyway: it suffices.
Already after the first notes it is clear: this is a fun machine. We just want to go dancing at Level 42! That, of course, is a very good sign. On A Perfect Circle’s spherical “The Noose,” it’s striking how fast and tight Cyrus plays. It doesn’t manage to translate emotion as well as the B Drive or Atoll, but it’s still really, really good. Very nice product!
Measurements Cyrus CD-T
We were unable to do a normal clock measurement. The scope gave a square wave, but the Wavecrest couldn’t make sense of it…. no idea why honestly. What we did manage to do was a noise measurement. Which is neat. Not the lowest, but very neat; we see no grass at all…. sterling work by Cyrus.
There’s an interesting article by Stereophile about different CD transports and their impact on sound. Granted, it’s not very recent, but it seems that physics are still the same.
