Measurements and conclusion
Contents
We see pretty big differences in terms of resistance and conduction. That’s where the 808 “wins” by a wide margin over the 405. Conduction goes times two and resistance halves (logically). And it should, since the 808 has twice as many conductors.
Capacitance is also much lower than the 405. Perhaps because of the better sheathing Arnold uses? The impedance is – rather surprisingly – almost the same: it is half in the beginning (0.043 OHm for the 808 and 0.084 Ohm for the 405), but it ends up at almost 8 Ohm in both cases, which is still high, we think (probably due to the somewhat higher inductance). Also, the phase shift of the 405 and 808 is different. Most likely due to the different pattern the 405 shows in the capacitance measurement.
The inductance is almost the same, but that is not surprising since the construction and type of conductors are the same.
Bottom line, the 808 simply measures better than the 405.
Do you have a Canadian distributor for your cables or do you sell direct to dealers in North America? Please check out our web site-audiofi.ca
We might be interested in selling your cables. Scot
Dear Scot,
We don’t sell anything. You have to contact Driade in order to check if he is interested.
