Test setup

We tested the Ferrum Hypsos in a few systems. Unfortunately not on a DAC with external power supply; that would be even more beneficial. We did, however, include it extensively in the switch test. And we later used it on our own Ultimate Audio PC with JCAT network card and usb card. The reference system consists of:

The Alpha Audio PC uses a Mutec MC3+ as its usb interface. That reclocks the signal and sends it AES to the Pavane via a Grimm TPR cable. The Alpha Audio PC runs a ROON client and is optimized with Fidelizer. This results in an exceptionally musical unit (but it is very pricey: about 4000 euros in parts).

Presets or manual

We set the voltage manually. This is done with a few presses and turns. There are also presets programmed in. Very clever and innovative! In short: if you have a device that is known to Ferrum, then you can also just select this device from the list and that’s it. We do it quickly through the manual configuration.
