Smaakvol?

Speakers nowadays come in more colours than just black or cherry. We ourselves think white is a contemporary choice. The Focal Sopra No1 also comes in red or orange. The last colour is daring, but we’re still Dutch, aren’t we?

The speaker comes with a tripod for 3999 euro each. This tripod is specially designed for the Focal Sopra No1 and therefore fits perfectly. Now the choice of this setup is twofold. On the one hand we think it’s a good development, because this way you get the most and best sound out of the speaker. On the other hand, if you want to place the loudspeaker on a piece of furniture, for example, the tripod that you do pay for is of no use to you.

Bookshelf speaker?

Today, the term bookshelf speakers no longer honors the products. Of course, it also depends on which book you would keep next to the speaker. If we ask you to remember a great old magic book. For example, a book on which an ancient magician reads spells, a large gold lock on the side and a cover of bound dragons scales… well… then it might fit.

If we look objectively at the Sopra No1, then it is more like a third part of the Sopra No2. This ‘mini-version’ is just pretty big. A No2 with the bottom off. Well, that’s a tripod now. So the actual footprint is just the same. Is that skeptical? Probably,

As we secretly expected, it’s an all-inclusive package. This means that the speakers come with spikes and underlay discs. That makes us happy.

Pair of specifications

Just a few more specs. The Focal Sopra No1 is a 2-way system and uses a 16.5 centimeter bass/midrange unit. And a 27-millimeter Berylium tweeter. This should be good on paper for a range of 45hz to 40khz. For if you were planning on going to the gym: you can also carry a pair of Sopras of 19 Kg each.

  1. Not a bad idea really. It would be useful to get connected to those online outlets for other reasons. Ya just never know! But I don’t see myself moving down this particular track given its fussy nature about support chain. I don’t need to work that hard or spend that much to be a happy camper.😎Now…🐶Next shiny object > Moon 250i

  2. I am finishing today’s journey into the audio unknown by whimsically picking a speaker review from the expanding and wonderful AA catalog. This is it…and that was phenomenal. To these ears, and without a doubt, my favorite speaker by a mile (sorry kilometer doesn’t make the meter!). Well, at least for these audio samples. Still needs testing for some of my jazz and classical to confirm what I think I already know: that I ❤️ BTs and this speaker! And that I can’t afford them. Damn. Next…..
