The test set-up

Contents

We tested the Marantz Model 30 and SACD 30N on different speakers. First of all of course the Focal Sopra No1. But besides that also a duo of DALI Rubicon 6 and Bowers & Wilkins 805 D3. This to see how well the Marantz Model 30 reacts to different speakers. So we can hear how it performs and whether there’s enough control under difficult loads.

The connection to the power grid is done with the standard cabling you find in the box. As interlinks we use Grimm TPM. As speaker cabling we have switched between Driade Flow and Audioquest William Tell Silver that we – at that time – also had to test. Filtering goes via the Kemp PowerStrip 8plus which goes into the wall via a Kemp reference. We do not play via the Isotek Titan in this test.

The test tracks come from our NAS as well as from Tidal. We mix high-res with CD quality and mqa. We mainly use BubbleUPnP as an app, because to be honest we didn’t feel like registering the Heos app again. We also wonder why that’s necessary. Especially with a purchase like the SACD 30N which costs 3000 euro. Of course we also played cd’s (man, what a long time ago!)
