Hi Geoff, thank you very much and of course thank you for the beautiful report about the Ambre. Unfortunately, I did not know the company Metrum Acoustics before. Very interesting also that the MA DACs are used to cut vinyl, at least in the conversion of digital studio material. A nice weekend
The test convinced me and I ordered the Ambre to test it. I can’t use the better I2S connecter but maybe later. ROON runs on a MacBookPro M1 – USB C to Ethernet cable – MA Ambre – Grimm Audio TPR XLR AES cable – Backes & Müller BM ICE etc. Before that was ROON on the Mac M1 – USB cable – Mutec MC3+ USB – Grimm Audio TPR XLR – Backes & Müller BM ICE 525 etc. In my setup, the Ambre sounds very neutral with a somewhat restrained treble that fits perfectly with the linear frequency response. Very stable and precise stage in width and height. In the middle you would think there is an additional monitor! Very amazing at a good price. I don’t know if it could be done even better!?
