We listened to the Metrum Acoustics Baby Ambre both at home and at the office. During the holidays we put the Baby Ambre at home next to the regular Ambre. We run there with a Metrum Acoustics Adagio with I2S input. It controls two AVM M30 monos which in turn feeds a pair of DALI Epicon 2. A transparent and musical system. Perhaps not as detailed and grand as the Pass Labs XP12, with the Bryston, Pavane and the Focal Sopra No1, but certainly not a punishment to listen to (understatement).

This also allows us to compare the test setup directly. Cables in both cases come from Grimm (TPM), Audioquest and Kemp. In case of home, the mains cables from Art Speak.

The music data comes from a Synology NAS, where the situation at home is also Roon Server running on the NAS (DS1517+). In the office it runs on a NUC (Roon Rock) with a Core i5 and 8GB RAM. That’s a little more responsive than Roon on a Synology (with 12GB of RAM and SSD Cache). But it’s still running fine.
