The use of Dirac Live we have already documented several times and is in this Lite version well achievable for the average audiophile. Let the microphone perform a number of sweeps and see what it gives. It is our first ‘hands on’ acquaintance with such software and so we share our experiences with you as a layman. We think the biggest thing is just to take some time and get started. We ourselves suffer from procrastination, but the setting is actually not that bad. Of course you can go as far as you want, especially with the extended version, but the Lite version will suffice for many
Changes
In our rooms we notice clear differences with Dirac switched on. The biggest changes are a tighter bass, a clearer stereo image, a little more detail and less reflections, especially in the large room. At Alpha’s head office, the differences were minimal, yet this software can be a useful application for someone who doesn’t want to stuff their living room with all kinds of clumsy acoustic panels. It is not a panacea, but it solves a number of issues. Especially in the bass it’s usefull.Â
