The performance of the Neat Mystique Classic speakers in perspective
Contents
Because the Neat Mystique Classic speakers are strikingly different in nature, it is helpful to refer to two other reviews to put them in perspective: those of the Audio Physic Spark speakers and of the Graham Audio speakers. So to be clear, the speakers are not directly compared.
The Spark speakers stood out in how deeply they let you listen into the music, with a layering and sophistication reminiscent of a fancy dinner at a highly regarded restaurant. If you think away the fuss and fancy, you end up with these Neat speakers. It is the music, without any distractions that takes centre stage.
The Graham Audio speakers stood out for their almost tangible humanity in the reproduction of voices and wood instruments. That is another axis of sophistication, the resolution and layering in what is being reproduced giving the listening sensation the medium of vinyl, CD or digital file disappears. That is not so with these Neat speakers, it is not that elusive authenticity, but it evokes the same sense of closeness.
We reviewers love to talk about how speakers ‘disappear’, but if there is a Tommy Cooper prize for this disappearing act, then the Neat Mystique Classic speakers deserve that prize.
