Of course the io has its limitations but you build a beautiful system effortlessly around it. It is cheaper than the Brio and has a nice phono stage. Buy the best streamer/dac or turntable you can afford and the io will get the maximum out of it. Pick a couple of beautiful monitors and enjoy. If you do not play loud then you will never lack the nice and ‘gravy’ sound of this amp.

In fact, the io returns to the essence. A few excellent inputs, a solid headphone amplifier and a phono stage for lovers. Where there is certainly something to be said for all-in-one products is the fun of this hobby of course a fine set put together. The search for a new component, by reading reviews and listening in the store, is half the fun. The Rega io is a no-brainer in this price range

Conclusion

If we already liked the Brio we love the io! It's always nice when an excellent, affordable product comes on the market. And the Rega io does not disappoint. This amplifier is full of spirit and its reproduction goes straight to the heart. The casing itself may look a bit rudimentary, the line inputs reach a bizarrely high level and can compete with much more expensive stuff. Of course the io has its limitations but in the right setting it will never disappoint. The io may be the cheapest amplifier in Rega's range, but we think it's one of the best! It delivers 30 miraculous watts that will be sufficient in many situations. Because of its limitations we only give it 4 stars but it is Alpha Approved. Highly recommended!
