Measurements and Conclusion
Contents
What an awesomely good performance this Revel Performa F226Be has. The response is practically flat and the distortion is incredibly low. In the midrange around 600 Hz even lower than the Focal Sopra. (-70dB / 0.031%). That is already worth an Approved!
By the way, what is striking is that our off-axis measurement (20 degrees) is better than the on-axis measurement. it shows that a slight toe-in is enough for optimal performance. We have noticed that a little toe-in provides slightly tighter focusing. A lot of toe-in is not necessary.
Measurements made with: DPA 4091, Audient ID14 interface, Illusonic measurement software. Measured at 1 meter on-axis and 20 degrees off-axis.
Conclusion
What a wonderful speaker this Revel Performa F226Be is. It's a beautifully neutral reproducer that plays everything you ask for. Without adding salt or sauce. Just the source, without your own interpretation. We love it.Another notable strength of the Revel is its easy positioning. Of course they play best when you can place them freely, but we noticed that they reach a certain level quite quickly. And that's beneficial in a lot of living rooms where they can't get the space.
To conclude... this is a severely underrated brand that deserves much more praise. On the other hand: a secret gem can also be a lot of fun and nice.... can't it? Alpha Approved!
For speakers costing e8,900. I was expecting a far more inspiring review…! I am not complaining about the review itself its just they are neutral sounding and somewhat easier to place in the room all good until one comes to the price…?
We are Just very to the point. It’s a damn good speaker. 🙂
