Power is a “hot topic” on Alpha Audio. We test quite a lot in terms of power supplies, conditioners and… cables. Now we know there are a lot of people who don’t believe in cables at all…. let alone cables that “just have to transport power” from A to B. Anyway: we just believe our ears in this case. And that there is a difference, no question. And that good power-cables don’t have to be expensive, Yeti proves with ‘The Yeti Standard’.
What immediately stands out about the new ‘The Yeti Standard‘ is that it is a fairly thin, flexible power-cable. This is very convenient, of course, because it can easily be bend and falls neatly behind your rack.
Construction
Yeti indicates that this version is constructed with 4mm2 wires of tinned copper. It is also possible to get 6mm2 or even 10mm2. That might be nice with hefty power conditioners or power amplifiers.
The three wires are unshielded, but braided to reduce inductance. We see this later in the measurements as well: inductance values are very decent.
The plugs have copper contacts. In our opinion, better than rhodium which conducts considerably less well than copper.
Although the finish is simple; it is nicely done. And in this price range: 289 Euro for a meter, we think it fits just fine.
