We wrote on the previous page that the Yamaha sounds great. And we can fill paragraphs on how these in-ears combine with certain genres…. it’s pretty simple: it’s the Yamaha sound in an in-ear. Neutrally tuned, correct … no overloaded bass drowning the mids and highs in the bass. It’s a pleasant sound that allows you to listen for a long time without getting tired. And that is quite unique in this price segment. Almost all major brands these days opt for “Smiley Face” tuning. Lots of bass, no mid, lots of treble. Very anoying if you ask us, because you pour the same sauce over all the music, making everything sound the same. Just like throwing loads of pepper over food: everything becomes spicy and tastes like pepper….

Not so with the Yamaha… Whatever genre we play; it’s put down nicely. Gazpacho goes – as it should – in all directions. From raw and dark to light and floaty to spherical and worn.

Bubbles

A quick word about calling with these in-ears. Frankly, your author finds calling with in-ears annoying. You hear yourself very strangely while talking and to the outside world you are screaming. Anyway, Yamaha can’t do anything about that. The conversation partner understood me well and following what is said works very well. Be careful when picking up the phone, because Android uses the medium with which you pick up with. Picking up with the phone itself therefore results in a silent pair of in-ears and sound on the phone. The same is true with connected car kits.

For whom

Since the Yamaha TW-E7B is a fairly neutrally tuned in-ear AND it competes in a popular price segment, the question is: who did Yamaha have in mind? The “youth”? Who is looking for a lot of bass above all… that’s the way it should be. Right? The audiophile? He is mainly looking for a nice, wired over-ear. That just sounds so much better. The ‘common man’? They do not buy 250 euro in-ears. There are also in-ears for less than 100 euro. Or even 25 euro.

Who did Yamaha have in mind with this product? Perhaps the audio enthusiast looking for a pair for sports? Or for travel or vacation? That in itself could fit …

Conclusion

Yamaha puts a fine pair of in-ears on the market with the Yamaha TW-E7B. The sound is very pleasant: neutral, versatile and relaxed. That makes long listening very pleasant. The wearing comfort is also excellent. They are light and fit nicely in the ear. The app is still an issue. It does not work on our phone. Yamaha still has to fix that. Our opinion: definitely a go if you are looking for something in this class!
