We are seeing more and more products from the Land of the Four Dragons. As with products from “the west,” there are great and not so great products among them. Boelsz has a brand new brand (to us) in its portfolio: ToneWinner. We test the AD-PRO3+ integrated amplifier.
Let’s face it: ToneWinner is not a well-known brand in the Netherlands. Nor in the Benelux or Europe. However, the brand has been developing audio equipment for over thirty years. It is a serious company in China that not only makes products under its own name, but also supplies components and equipment to other manufacturers (OEM and ODM). Customers – according to their website – are Philips, Sharp and other major brands.
AD-PRO3+
We have from ToneWinner the AD-PRO3+ integrated amplifier. This model delivers 165 watts per channel and can do its work entirely in class-A. On the back we find an analog balanced input, two normal line inputs and an input for a turntable (MM and MC). There are also two optical inputs, a coaxial digital input and USB. Finally, the AD-PRO3+ offers a subwoofer output (RCA and XLR) and a set of bi-wire speaker terminals; A/B switchable.
Inside the ToneWinner AD-PRO3+ is neat. Up front we see a large toroidal transformer quietly doing its job. The power supply section is amply regulated and filtered with a series of capacitors. The dac board with the ESS 9038pro is kept separate from the analog section.
At the front, it is kept simple. There is a volume knob in the middle and below it a series of buttons under which the function is clearly stated. The same goes for the compact but fine remote control. No complaints here!
