Samples and conclusion

What have we learned from this extensive test of seven integrated amplifiers? Simple: there is a good audible difference in amplifiers. In some cases not bad or good, but just taste. Sometimes it pays to invest a little extra. And: sometimes all-rounders are really all-rounders. Kudo’s to Primare: what a nice product they have with the I25. Impressive.
A purely analogue investment can also pay off, of course. Both Yamaha with the A-S1200 or NAIM with the Nait XS3 have an unprecedented performance. But they are simply more expensive. You still need a source or a dac. However, you are more flexible, as you don’t have to replace a complete device when something is outdated. The Nait XS3 really touched us with a beautiful interpretation of the music: rhythmic, fluent and with a lot of insight. That’s not strange: Focal and NAIM work intensively together. And yes: that is audible.
Our philosophy is and remains: invest in a super good amplifier instead of a pricey loudspeaker. An amplifier can give a speaker unprecedented good performance. But a good speaker always sounds bad on a moderate amplifier.

Conclusion
Seven amplifiers. In the price range from 1800 - 2800 euro. On average about 2500 euro. What can you expect? Well: first of all considerable differences in presentation. One is ultimately neutral, the other silky smooth and another one is a party animal or a star in terms of connectivity and expandability. We're not going to choose a winner, because that's up to you. In the article you will find all our samples in lossless wav format. You can also look back at the video to get an idea. You will be able to find the match with your speakers, acoustics and budget.
