Synology has released a new DiskStation, the DS220+. A plus version, so a nice and fast one that should be future proof.
Synology announces the release of a new NAS in the form of the DS220+. DS220+ is an ideal system for home use and small business data storage and security. Synology DiskStation DS220+ is a compact network-attached storage solution for optimizing data and multimedia management. It includes streamlined data sharing, video streaming, and photo indexing options, as well as great data security and recovery capabilities (when used in RAID-1).
Save it, all that music and movies
The Synology DS220+ is based on a dual core Intel Celeron J4025 with a 2 GHz (burst 2.9 GHz) clock frequency. As standard, the NAS comes with 2GB of RAM, which can be expanded to up to 6GB. The sequential read speed is up to 225 MB/s and the sequential write speed is up to 192 MB/s, so very neat digits. It is an ideal dual-bay NAS for storing and streaming, for example, your music collection or movies. For multimedia, Synology has several free installation packages available, including a comprehensive music player and administrator. This works via a web interface as well as apps for iOS and Android. Naturally, DLNA is also supported.
