Older devices often have no or outdated network capabilities; with the ‘Hardware Package IV’ of the German Audiodata you also make the old audio-companions Roon Ready.
You have an older hi-fi system, active speakers, amplifier or DAC? And you would like to use Roon on those, wouldn’t you? Then there is the ‘Hardware package IV‘ of German Audio Data. The compact device is a complete Roon network player. You connect it wirelessly via wifi or simply via an Ethernet cable to your home network. The device is available in a variant with an analogue output and a digital output (optical and coax).
Raspberry Pi
Anyone with some technical knowledge will immediately recognize the Raspberry Pi 4 B that’s inside the device. On the Pi is probably a ‘hat’ (say an expansion board) that realizes the d/a-conversion, and facilitates the digital inputs. The fact that the Audiodata Hardware package IV goes over the counter for an amount of €370.42 probably has everything to do with software licenses for Roon. In any case, it is a simple ‘plug & play’ solution for anyone who wants to make the step to the Roon ecosystem but has ‘obsolete’ equipment.
Originally it was developed by Audiodata for its MusikServer MS II, but of course it works with any other audio device that has a digital or analog input.
