Bowers & Wilkins introduces new generation Zeppelin

British audio brand Bowers & Wilkins launches the wireless Zeppelin today, featuring with better sound, better looks and smart features.

First introduced in 2007 as the ultimate iPod dock, Bowers and Wilkins’ new Zeppelin returns in 2021 with better sound, a prettier look and smart features.

The wide range of streaming services in the Bowers & Wilkins Music App makes it possible to listen to your favorite music with quality sound. The speaker is available in dark and light gray and has dimmable ambient lighting that creates a halo effect on the metal base. The new Zeppelin will be available from October 13, 2021.

Designed for performance

The new Zeppelin is a complete stereo system in one enclosure, with dedicated left and right speakers surrounding a central, large subwoofer, all powered by 240W amplification.

These premium components are mounted in an extremely rigid, FEA-optimized enclosure, carefully designed to ensure the best possible acoustic performance. This with a minimum of material around the edges of each drive unit for optimal sound dispersion. The result, according to Bowers & Wilkins, is room-filling stereo sound.

High

The Zeppelin’s two decoupled double-dome tweeters, originally used in the award-winning 600 Anniversary Series, are mounted on the far edges of the cabinet.

‘They are completely isolated from vibrations generated through the cabinet by other larger driver units. This makes for a wide, spacious and highly accurate sound. The tweeters are paired with 90mm midrange drivers that use Bowers & Wilkins’ patented Fixed Suspension Transducer (FSTTM) technology.

‘This technology is used in all of the British brand’s high-end floorstanding speakers, including the reference 800 Series Diamond, the monitor speaker of choice at Abbey Road Studios,’ the manufacturer writes.

Low

Bowers & Wilkins says: ‘Finally, there is a new 150mm subwoofer to add open, detailed and refined bass to the Zeppelin’s high-resolution system. The subwoofer is mounted in the heart and the design has been carefully optimized to prevent unwanted ‘rocking’ of the cabinet during use.

This results in a purer sounding and more agile bass response. Combining proven driver unit technology with the new high-resolution streaming platform, the new Zeppelin is simply the best of its kind. The overall result is an exceptional musical performance, whether from a wirelessly connected source or via a streaming service’.

Distinctive & Innovative Design

‘For more than 15 years, each new generation of the Zeppelin has led the way in terms of its beautiful and unique design. And like every Bowers & Wilkins design, the shape is defined by the acoustics,’ we read further in the distributed press release. The Zeppelin is available in two variants, a dark one (midnight grey) and a light one (pearl grey). The speaker also has switchable and dimmable mood lighting that creates a ‘halo’ effect on the metal base.

Listen directly to the music you love

If you want to stream music from your mobile device, tablet or computer, the new Zeppelin is equipped with both AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. This makes it suitable for iOS and Android users. The Bowers & Wilkins Music App gives you instant access to a host of streaming services including Spotify, Deezer, Last.fm, Qobuz, Soundcloud, TIDAL and TuneIn.

Connected, smart & intuitive

The speaker is designed to last. The powerful digital “brain” can be upgraded over time. In early 2022, the multi-room function will be introduced. This will allow it to connect together with other new Zeppelins or with devices from the Formation series in a multi-room environment.

The Beauty of Sound

With the new Zeppelin, Bowers & Wilkins says you no longer have to choose between a full-featured wireless speaker or a sophisticated design with room-filling sound. Zeppelin offers both. The Zeppelin will be available in dark gray and light gray from October 13 for €799 at selected dealers or on the Bowers & Wilkins website.
