For anyone owning an older hi-fi system or “simple” active speakers, there is the NAD CS1, which lets you add streaming in an instant.
What first stands out about the NAD CS1 is its pleasant price of $349. In return, you get a nice streamer that easily connects to any existing older hi-fi system or active speaker. The manufacturer promises audiophile streaming quality. Beating heart of the device is the PCM5141 DAC chip from Texas Instruments, which NAD says is known for its extremely low noise, excellent dynamic performance and immunity to clock-jitter. The CS1 can handle a range of wireless standards, including AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect.

You connect the streamer to your (home) network via wireless Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet. As almost obvious, this little NAD also supports DLNA and hi-res audio up to 24 bit / 192 kHz. MQA is no problem either. In terms of outputs you choose from analog RCA, or optical and coax digital. Available from March this year.
