According to What Hifi – which relies on a popular Reddit feed – Tidal is going to raise its prices.
We’ve seen it happen more often in recent years: music streamers are raising their fees. According to this post on What Hifi, it’s now Tidal’s turn. We’re talking about a global increase that particularly affects the HiFi subscription. There is no indication yet that the already pricey HiFi Plus subscription will also be increased. In any case, this will break the magic barrier of the well known tenner in many countries ($9.99, £9.99 etc).
A reason for the increase is unknown, possibly – suggests What Hifi – it has to do with Tidal’s switch from MQA to FLAC. There are obviously costs associated with that process, too.
