Interesting (and good) news: Tidal is going to lower its prices. Excellent news especially for subscribers to the HiFi-plus package!
The HiFi Plus subscription will be dropped from Tidal. And that goes for the whole world. Instead, the streaming service will soon provide one, significantly more modest in price, subscription for all they offer. We’re talking $11 a month, including hires. The $20 dollar-a-month subscription will be gone. The new subscription prices will start April 10. For anyone currently paying for Tidal HiFi Plus, a halving of the cost from then on!
Concerns for Spotify
It’s an interesting move that puts considerable pressure on Spotify in particular. After all: they only have compressed streams, no spatial audio, and all at a comparable price. The once-promised Spotify Lossless also never got off the ground. And even if it did now, it may be too late. After all, Spotify undoubtedly had the idea of charging a higher subscription price for lossless streams. They can forget about that now, because no one is going to have the money for that anymore. Interesting times in streamer land.
