For now, it’s only happening in the U.S., but no doubt it will arrive elsewhere too: yet another price increase at Spotify.
With yet another price increase – for now only in the U.S. – Spotify is just about the most expensive music streaming service. And that, while competitors such as Apple Music and Tidal offer lossless streaming in much higher sound quality. At a lower price even. The big question in the near future will be how long customers will remain loyal to the increasingly expensive Spotify. Starting in July, Americans will pay $12 a month, Duo will cost $17 and Family a whopping $20 a month. Spotify does offer 15 hours of audiobooks per month with the subscription. But to be perfectly honest, that’s not why you choose a music streaming service. Especially not when its costs keep rising due to “gimmicks” that you are obliged to purchase as well.
