According to Spotify, its long-announced lossless plan is still not ready for rollout. Moreover, it will undoubtedly cost significantly more…

If the Spotify HiFi subscription ever comes to fruition, it will undoubtedly be an expensive venture. In our region, it is expected to be around or just under €20 per month, according to an article from What HiFi. The article also mentions that Spotify is far from ready for the rollout. In a time when the leading lossless service, Tidal (which also offers many high-res tracks), has lowered its costs and services like Apple Music with lossless streams standard included cost €10.99 per month, Spotify will face challenges. On the other hand, the company is seeing an increase in subscribers. These are likely people who are not so concerned with the ‘ultimate’ sound quality but are looking for music for the masses.

In short: Spotify HiFi will be continued, someday. Perhaps.
