With the new Meridian Ellipse, the manufacturer presents a high-end streaming speaker with an appealing design.
One notable feature of the Meridian Ellipse’s design is that it will likely fit effortlessly into nearly any interior. The oval-shaped speaker provides room-filling sound, according to the manufacturer, and supports multi-room settings, which can be managed via the accompanying Meridian Control app. The Ellipse is designed to easily replace a conventional hi-fi setup with its projected 3D soundstage. The speaker supports popular music streaming services, including Tidal Connect, Qobuz, Deezer, and Spotify Connect. Internet radio is supported, and both AirPlay and Google Cast (currently in certification) are included too. Additionally, this smart oval speaker is Roon Ready, allowing local content streaming from devices like a NAS via UPnP. Users can choose between WiFi and Ethernet to connect the device to their (home) network. A built-in DSP ensures a broad soundstage using in-house technology.
The Meridian Ellipse is priced at €2400, with Google Cast support to be added in an upcoming firmware update.
