Veel handwerk
Contents
Although Focal has a very modern factory – and R&D centre – there is still a lot of manual work involved in the creation of a loudspeaker. Of course there are cnc machines that take care of grinding, drilling and customization. But gluing, sanding, spraying (yes, that too is done by hand) and polishing is just ‘old-fashioned’ handiwork. A speaker will touch around twenty pairs of hands with ease before it’s playing music in your home.
From Crazy Car to Crazy High End…
High End speakers are fun. But certainly not achievable for everyone. So there are also numerous models that are better affordable. Think Chorus or Aria.
Or what about high-end Focal-sound with you while traveling? Yes… There’s car audio from Focal. From affordable solutions that you can buy with your new Peugeot, to after market Utopia… Right. Utopia for the car. We have to admit: we got a big smile during that demo… completely insane… bizarly good. But yes: 10,000 euros for a system. Let’s save that for better days.
And what about personal audio… Since a few years the French have a serious headphone line-up. From the open Elear to the Utopia. And fans of closed are also served. Stellia, Elegia… go ahead and say it. All handmade. Unfortunately we didn’t see how the headphones are made. We did get to see some car audio. You can see these recognizable yellow units in the video.
