Marantz with Definitive Technology

Marantz met Definitive Technology

Not entirely surprisingly Marantz plays with the new 7000 series. This controls a set of Definitive Technology monitors. The set sounds remarkably well balanced. Nice and big, not a woolly low-end… but smooth.

Ilumnia

The innovative Belgians of Ilumnia have their monitor-speaker on the Xfi. By the way, the floor stand is also playing elsewhere (in Chord’s room). The monitors play enormously loose and grand with striking precision. This newcomer wants to compete with the top of the industry. And they do.

Daudio

Daudio

Daudio plays together with YN Audio (Xodos) and Purecable. Daudio shows the new S2 and the M2. Both systems are of course di-pool models, which means that the ‘cabinet’ is open. That gives a striking spatial reproduction. We hear a wonderfully loose sound with a lot of resolution. As soon as we came to listen, tubes were being played with…

The Gryphon

The Gryphon

Big… bigger… biggest. Man: What a giga-set puts Hifinesse down. We haven’t heard The Gryphon many times, but this does make an impression. The set plays remarkably light and direct. It’s a sound you need to lie down.

Kroma with Sands

Kroma met Zanden

Kroma Audio is a fairly new brand. But together with Chattelin they’re working hard. After a sort of introduction last year, this year they are again with a duo of floorstanders, driven by Zanden. As the source of the Grimm MU-1 streamer… deliciously loose, round and dynamic. We’re curious about the book halves. We’d like to pick them up sometime.

Gauder with MOON

Gauder met MOON

More Music plays a set with the Gauder DARC 200 with a 700 series of MOON. And to top it off: dCS and Aurender. Of course, that’s serious stuff. And that’s what it sounds like. Seriously good… super-tight, spacious, fast and precise. What do you have to say, except one of the better ones of the show?

Wilson with Mark Levinson

Reference Sounds stands with a set consisting of a set Wilson Audio and control of Mark Levinson. Unfortunately, we were not able to listen for very long, but what we heard was very good. Clean, open… neutral. We are always surprised how not warm a set of Wilsons sounds. Despite the somewhat ‘clumsy’ appearance (our opinion). But poe: Sounds does it.

Manger with Lindeman

Manger met Lindeman

Audio Input stands with the active Mangers, Bergmann and Lindemann. Now, your editor isn’t directly from vinyl, but this is just good… we have seldom heard the Manger S1 play so well either. Compliments…
