Pro-Ject Automat A2 turntable

The new Pro-Ject A2 is an audiophile class fully automatic turntable. Although ultra cheap, still affordable if we look at the quality.

The Pro-Ject A2 is the successor to the Austrian manufacturer’s first fully automatic record player A1, which saw the light of day last year. An addition on the A2 is that it now also supports 78 rpm, which means that older vinyl (and its predecessors) can also be plyed. Furthermore, the A2 comes standard with a slightly better cartridge, this time in the form of the Ortofon 2M Red. The aluminum tone arm of the A2 has a slightly larger diameter than that of the A1 too. The tone arm bearing is made of aluminum plus a cardan four-point construction with steel ball bearing. Furthermore, the mechanism by which you adjust the needle pressure has received an overhaul compared to the previous version.

Manual

The base of the Pro-Ject A2 features a heavy MDF plinth that is hand-painted in eight layers. In fact, the whole player is handmade at the factory in the German Black Forest.

Remains the price, which is €1199. For that you get a lot of record player in your hands, we guess.
