The Volumio software in use
Contents
The setup of the Integro is very simple. You download the Volumio app for your phone or iPad, or connect from any browser by typing “integro.local” into the address bar. It takes a few steps and then you are ready to play music.
Using streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal or Qobuz, is very simple.
- With Spotify, you use the Spotify app and choose the Integro as your player.
- With Tidal, you can use Tidal’s app and use the Integro via connect.
- For Tidal, you also have the choice in the Volumio software to connect your Tidal subscription and make the music selection in the Volumio environment. For Qobuz it works this way.
Controlling the Integro through a browser is seamless, you type “integro.local” in the address bar and the control page is visible. Especially on the larger screen of a laptop or PC, this works very nice. Another advantage is that you are not depending on the app. If you are working on your PC, you can also operate the Integro from the PC, no need to grab your phone or tablet first.
Volumio’s interface has a logical layout. The main screen shows which track is currently playing. At the bottom of the screen are the playback control buttons. The three dashes at the top left (also known as “hamburger menu”) gives access to settings that are logically grouped. At the bottom right you will find an icon of a folder with magnifying glass and clicking on it will bring you to a screen with all the sources of music.
The first six tiles are filled with items if you link a hard drive, USB stick, MicroSD card or share from a NAS containing music files. The Volumio software indexes the tags of these files. The tiles following are for web radio and streaming services. If you are using a UPnP Server, you can also access it from the Volumio interface.
In the resources menu option, you can specify which tiles should be visible, so you can tailor the interface for your use.
Options for tweakers
The ‘playback options’ menu has a number of options for playing DSD files and upsampling music.
