Sound United with additional info on HDMI 2.1

Sound United has additional information about the HDMI 2.1 bug that affects some 4K/120 Hz sources and provides a black screen instead of a movie or game.

We wrote earlier about the hardware bug found in the most commonly used HDMI 2.1 chipset. Sound United also provided a FAQ about the problem earlier. Meanwhile, after a lot of research, they have come a bit further. Below is the most recent information we received from them:

Herewith an update from Sound United on the HDMI 2.1 compatibility situation of their new Denon and Marantz 8K AV receivers: We have performed additional tests and we can report that 4K/120Hz pass-through works without problems with PS5 consoles and nVidia graphics cards. Other than what was originally reported with respect to Xbox X at 4K/120Hz pass-through, we have found no further HDMI 2.1 compatibility issues to date. To ensure Denon and Marantz customers have the best gaming experience with PS5 and NVIDIA consoles, we’ve created a video that guides users through the optimal installation process to get the most out of their gaming systems. In this video, we cover how to install an 8K Denon or Marantz receiver, a Playstation 5 and an HDMI 2.1 compatible TV on 4K gaming at 120fps. We hope you’ll find it insightful and if you find it relevant, feel free to share it with the audience.

Xbox X

Sound United continues to work on a long-term solution for Xbox X users looking for a 4K/120hz pass-through solution on our 8K AV receivers and will keep you informed of further developments as they become available. For now, we kindly ask Xbox X users to try out workarounds we communicate in this video.
